@Alex from the upstream bug we can conclude that we cannot blindly trust
G_FILE_ATTRIBUTE_ACCESS_CAN_WRITE, not really gio or gvfs' fault because they
depend on third party components that may be flawed.

Which version of exo? It could be bug 15100 (comment #5 mentions the problem
with input being ignored).

Looks like new settings are preserved over reboot/relogin only if a new profile
is created. Previously I had no profiles available.
