Bug ID: 15474
   Summary: Improve Comment in .desktop file
Classification: Apps
   Product: Xfce4-taskmanager
   Version: 1.2.0
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

 Component: General
  Assignee: xfce-bugs@xfce.org
  Reporter: scootergri...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

xfce4-taskmanager.desktop Name and Comment:
Task Manager
Easy to use task manager

So it says Task Manager two times.
Maybe improve the comment to say what can be done with it.

Some ideas for Comment:
Monitor system ressources
Control processes/tasks
Identify windows

I like the options to identify windows which i have not seen in many programs
buts its very usefull i think so maybe good idea to talk about it in the
comment.

Version 1.2.2.

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15473] New: Improve Name/Comment in xfce4-run.desktop

2019-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15473

Bug ID: 15473
   Summary: Improve Name/Comment in xfce4-run.desktop
Classification: Xfce Core
   Product: Xfce4-appfinder
   Version: 4.13.3
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: xfce-bugs@xfce.org
  Reporter: scootergri...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: Xfce 4.14

xfce4-run.desktop says:
Run Program...
Run a program

So basically the same.

Maybe something like the following would be better:
Run...
Run a program

Launch...
Run a program

Run...
Launch a program

Run...
Enter a program to launch

Run program...
Enter a command you want to launch

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15472] New: Change .desktop file Comment string

2019-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15472

Bug ID: 15472
   Summary: Change .desktop file Comment string
Classification: Xfce Core
   Product: Exo
   Version: 0.12
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: xfce-bugs@xfce.org
  Reporter: scootergri...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: Exo 0.12

In the .desktop file Name and Comment both start with:
Preferred Applications

Instead of:
Preferred Applications (Web Browser, Mail Reader and Terminal Emulator)

Maybe:
Choose default Web Browser, Mail Reader and Terminal Emulator
Choose Web Browser, Mail Reader, File Manager and Terminal Emulator
Choose default Web Browser, Mail Reader, File Manager and Terminal Emulator

I see File Manager is also in exo maybe add that or maybe shorten it:
Choose default Web Browser, Mail Reader, etc.

Version 0.12.5.

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15458] Education category missing in application finder

2019-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15458

--- Comment #5 from scootergri...@gmail.com ---
Try:

Start:
xfce4-appfinder

Notice if Education category is there.

sudo mousepad /usr/share/desktop-directories/xfce-education.directory

Insert a character between l-z before "Education".

So:
Name=Education

Becomes:
Name=zEducation

Look at appfinder and save.
See if the category will show.

I think you see because "Education" in Name=Education just happens to start
with a "e" which is between a-k.
But for languages like swedish that uses Name[sv]=Utbildning with a "U" the
category will not show.

Works with new user it seems but this is so weird...

If i edit/save the .desktop file while appfinder is open i can see the changes
live.
Which is super cool.

But the strange thing is that the category only shows in appfinder if the name
starts with a certain characters.

Like the category is visible with:
Name=a
Name=b
Name=c
..
Name=k

But not with:
Name=l
Name=m
Name=n
...
Name=z

Visible with:
Name=bb

But not with:
Name=aa

Same version. I added "Office" to the Categories line, and now the entry shows
up in both categories.

Categories=Office;Education;Math;

Can you reproduce the problem with a new user account?

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15469] New: Application .desktop file with Categories=Settings; Utility; does not show in Utility menu

2019-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15469

Bug ID: 15469
   Summary: Application .desktop file with
Categories=Settings;Utility; does not show in Utility
menu
Classification: Xfce Core
   Product: Xfce4-appfinder
   Version: 4.13.3
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: xfce-bugs@xfce.org
  Reporter: scootergri...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: Xfce 4.14

This is properly not about appfinder but it affects appfinder, application menu
and whisker menu plugin.

If i edit a .desktop file in /usr/share/applications and have
"Settings;Utility;" like so:

Categories=Settings;Utility;

Then for some reason the application does not show up in the Utility menu.
Remove "Settings;" and the application will show up in Utility menu.

Consistently appfinder, application menu and whisker menu plugin does this.
Like on purpose.

The Utility category seem to have special placement of these items in
application menu and whisker menu plugin, but not addfinder:
Run Program...
Application Finder

Dont know if that might mean something.

I have 4.13.3 now.
What version do you have?

Seems app finder dont show the education category if the program is also in the
Office category:

So if i remove "Office;" from the following line in the .desktop file i can see
Education category in app finder.
Categories=Office;Spreadsheet;Education;Science;Math;

I also tested if it was because there was only 1 program in Education but
having 3 programs in education did not show the category.

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15465] Change "_Empty File" to "_New File"

2019-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15465

--- Comment #3 from scootergri...@gmail.com ---
Maybe its not so bad after all with new/empty.

But when you create a new folder its just "create folder".

So my logic tells me create file should be the same style.

Like "Create document">"File".

Because its not called "Create empty folder" when creating a new folder.

I need a brake thinking about this to much.

Maybe putting the 4 "Create..." menu items into a sub menu would solve part of
this.

So instead of:

Create _Launcher...
Create _URL Link...
Create _Folder...
Create _Document

Have:

Create
_Launcher
_URL Link
_Folder
-
_custom 1
_custom 2
_custom 3
-
_Document

But maybe because i use Windows 7 which have a New menu like that.

In both Thunar and xfdesktop the menu entry is named "Empty File", so changing
that in xfdesktop would create an inconsistency.
