That commit is already in the 3.23 branch, so it's safe to assume to be
available in gtk 3.24, scheduled to next September.

That lead me to this upstream bug report:

Which was closed as dup of:

It's very likely to be an upstream bug, but let's keep this bug open, perhaps
there will come up something we can do on Thunar's side.

btw, the black background can also be seem on the window edges while resizing.

In the case of xfce4-settings, it's kinda understandable since it uses GtkPlug,
i.e. it spawns another process and embeds its UI. Still, a glitch, not present
in the gtk2 version.

there is the same glitch when launching the whisker menu and in xfce4-settings
when entering the appearance settings

Besides Thunar, I can see this glitch on Nemo and Caja, but not on Nautilus.
I guess this is related to GTK3, the question is if Nautilus does something
special to avoid this.
