Hi Mike, this seems related to a problem with keyboard shortcuts. Try going to System->Preferences->Keyboard Shortcuts in your RDP session (presuming you're running a gnome desktop) - and find an entry thusly : " D>" - that's a shortcut to hide and show your desktop, which is probably the behavior
