Re: Leopard Compatibility

2007-09-30 Thread Kelly Firkins
While I haven't been explicitly testing Yojimbo under Leopard, I have
been running it on my Leopard environment since last September. I have
noticed some of the same problems reported on the list (ie occasions
where Yojimbo search simply refuses to filter the lists), but it does
run and seems to run well.

Has Yojimbo been extensively tested with the various Leopard builds,
and does BB anticipate the need for a maintenance release?

I've been running Yojimbo on every seed released to date (on a G4
iBook and the Mac Pro), and have not come across any problems or
strangeness.

Since this doesn't give any NDA info related specifically to
Leopard, I can say that I've been running Yojimbo without a problem
for some time on my Leopard seeds. I imagine most of the well known
Mac developers are part of the seed program.

Re: Leopard Compatibility

2007-09-28 Thread Jason Davies

I'm not a developer and don't know anything about BB behind the scenes,
but I would be completely shocked if a product as mainstream as Yojimbo
wasn't ready for Leopard, especially given the extra time that it's
taken for Leopard to get here.

these are the people who got the first OS X-native third-party
app out of the door, I believe (BBEdit)...

don's lose any sleep over it.

THEY do the losing sleep bit, watering the magical code tree
late into the night in the run-up...

PLUS, there's usually some blurring by Apple that I suspect is
harder than it looks. A lot of apps still say 10.2.8 or 10.3.9
upwards, with a warning that some features require 10.4. We may
see something similar with 10.5.

I'd be more worried about 10.5.0 (or any first-version OS) than
Yojimbo, but from the information I've seen on "leak sites" about
Leopard, it appears there are only a few minor issues left in Leopard
to be sorted out, so I don't see why there would be. I haven't seen
anything to indicate a major shift in 10.5 despite the original
"secrets" that Jobs seemed to be holding back on.

Either everyone is holding fast to their NDAs or Leopard is going to
be more incremental.

My guess is that is one of the big focuses right now, hence the lack
of recent updates. Most developers that I've corresponded with have
had that focus for some time now.
