Perhaps enough for a new release?  One
can hope.

It's always been one of my absolute favorites. It's all bubbly. The
phrasing is incredible!

-FZ wrote the liner notes. That's either a typo, or FZ misremembering (it happens, see YCDTOSA liner notes). It's from sessions that ended up comprising some of Apostrophe.
My other question is can anyone tell me of any other source that this song was ever released on - or ever performed live by FZ, Keneally or anyone?
-Not by FZ. Don't know if anyone covered it live or not.

Re: [Zappa-List] Down In De Dew???

2005-02-18 Thread SOFA

From Roman's site: http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/songs/Down_In_De_Dew.html#ccc
"basic drum track recorded at Electric Ladyland, NYC,
September 1972 with overdubs from Paramount Studios, Hollywood, c.
1973-74. This piece began as a recorded jam session at
Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The only thing that remains from the
original recording is the drums. Everything else was layered on in over-dubs at
subsequent sessions in Los Angeles. This selection was an out-take from the
Apostrophe (') album. Another example of fretless guitar soloing can be
heard on the song "San Ber'dino" on the One Size Fits All album.
Unfortunately, the fretless guitar was stolen several years ago."
There's no listing of this song ever being played live anywhere...
Great tune.

I have the song Down In De Dew on two items - the
Lather CD and the Guitar World cassette tape. This is an amazing
and overlooked Zappa recording. Such odd playing and writing...and Jim
Gordon's great drumming. One thing I can't figure out is in the Guitar
World liner notes it says it was done in 1975 - but also says it was an
outtake from Apostrophe, which came out before 1975. ???My other
