It's quite simple: many manufacturers are releasing new versions of old
products, the new versions based on ZD1211B.

well, it's a good note, mine is zyxel g-220 v2
and with zd1211 no way... I really don't know
I hope developers can solve this mistery...

even with this command the rate still 1Mb/s - but not connected to any
network

I have exactly the same card, but it's not a zd1211b,
it's a zd1211...

Try:
iwconfig wlan0 rate auto

I mistook about difference between driver and instruction, I'm sorry.
I've tried to compile it but it gave me a lot of errors like:

about setting the rate, now I've got no wireless connection yet :) I was
only tring to set a rate different than the default 1Mb/s

How do the instructions differ from the current driver?
They should be just fine...

2006-06-21 Thread wdamn

so I'm using 1211b, and it's ok.

I've tried setting a different rate, but it doesn't seem to work
when I run
# iwconfig wlan0 rate 11M
it doesn't set a different rate than 1Mb/s and it gives me no output
what can I do?

About zd1211rw, I've followed this link
http://zd1211.ath.cx/wiki/UntestedWithRewrite and downloaded the latest
driver from here http://www.deine-taler.de/zd1211/snapshots/ but the
instruction doesn't correspond to the downloaded driver ... so I couldn't
test this new driver

zd1211 and zd1211b are different chipsets, so if your wireless device
works with the zd1211b version of the driver it definitely won't work
with the zd1211 version. There's no way in which the zd1211 driver is
'better' than zd1211b; they just handle different hardware. In
particular both of them should support both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 .

If you've read about this project you may have heard of zd1211rw, which
is a new implementation of a driver for these devices, under active
development by members of this list. This will certainly will be a lot
better than the old drivers when it is finished. I'm not up-to-date
with the status of the zd1211rw driver though, so don't know if it has
reached production quality yet, or if it has been made to support the
zd1211b hardware yet.

[zd1211-devs] zd1211 doesn't work - zd1211b it does

2006-06-21 Thread wdamn

Hi all,

I've got Zyxel ZyAIR G-220 and I'm trying to install zd1211 driver.
After some troubles, I've got the driver in my kernel, but the zd1211
doesn't create my wlan0 device. So I tried also to compile zd1211b (that if
I'm right it's for usb1.1) and hotplug auto modprobe it and create wlan0
device but with low transfer rate 1Mb/s - as usb1.1 does

what should I do to take advantage of zd1211?

thanx
