Re: [zekr] Re: New Quran Translation
Alaikum Salam Sorry to bother you again, but this is regarding Ali Quli Qarai's translation. He does not have a tafsir of course, but there are footnotes, wherein he has either included references to other verses, or brief explanations to few words, or the reading of a few words with regards to Asim, Khalaf, or even the Imams, with reference to the different Tafasir. I hadn't included the footnotes at the start while formatting the original file, and now thought it a better time to work on them. First question is, is it worthwhile to be added to zekr? And more importantly, how would you go about adding footnotes whereien one verse could have numerous notes, for instance: 7the path of those whom You have blessed*[1]*file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftn1 —such as*[2]*file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftn2have not incurred Your wrath, *[3]* file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftn3 nor are astray.*[4]*file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftn4 -- [1] file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftnref1 For further Qur’¡nic references to ‘those whom Allah has blessed,’ see *4*:69 and *19*:58; see also *5*:23, 110; *12*:6; *27*:19; *28*:17; *43*:59; *48* :2. [2] file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftnref2 This is in accordance with the *qir¡’ah* of ‘ª¥im, *ghayril-magh¤£bi*. However, in accordance with an alternative, and perhaps preferable, reading * ghayral-magh¤£bi* (attributed to Imam ‘Al¢ b. Ab¢ ±¡lib (*‘a*) as well as to Ibn Mas‘£d and Ubayy b. Ka‘b among the Companions, and to Ibn Kath¢r al-Makk¢, among the seven authorities of *qir¡’ah*), the translation will be: ‘not of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor those who are astray.’ (see *Mu‘jam al-Qir¡’¡t al-Qur’¡niyyah*) [3] file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftnref3 For references to ‘those who incur Allah’s wrath,’ see *4*:93; *5*:60; *7*:71, 152; *8*:16; *16*:106; *20*:81; *42*:16; *48*:6; *58*:14; *60*:13. [4] file:///C:/Users/M.%20Baqir/Desktop/Quran%20Part%201.docx#_ftnref4 For references to ‘those who are astray,’ see *2*:108, 175; *3*:90; *4*:116, 136, 167; *5*:12, 60, 77; *6*:74, 77, 125, 140; *7*:30, 179; *14*:3, 18, 27; *15*:56; *17*:72, 97; *19*:38; *22*:4, 12; *23*:106; *25*:44; *28*:50; * 31*:11; *33*:36, 67; *34*:8; :47; *38*:26; *39*:22; *40*: 34; *41*:52; *42*:18; *45*:23; *46*:5, 32; *60*:1. Should I add double braces on all these places and add the footnotes? [zekr] Re: نهج البلاغه Nahjul-Balagha
Salamun Alaikum Jamee'an Just wished to ask whether it would be possible to make the nahjul balagha project an online one, rather than an offline one? This way other sites too could benefit from it, for instance, al-islam.org itself would benefit greatly from it. In fact, as far as i have learned, they too have something similar on their plans...! Re: [zekr] New Quran Translation
It is by Ali Quli Qarai ps. The original english translation made use of glyphs at places where Arabic was translated. For instance: S£rat al-F¡ti¦ah I did speak to Mr. Quli Qarai, and he said that if it wouldn't be possible to use these glyphs on the site, then they may be substituted with letters. What do you think?
