it's sounds like the zenoss itself didn't check anything (if the database is ok)
too bad that you delete the system, now we'll never know.

if it's a windows machine just enable the wmi and add a user/pass at the
zproperties wmiuser/wmipassword
you'll get all the installed software and some of the hardware.

remote monitoring how? (assuming you're at home)
1. zenoss running at home, checking the office.
2. zenoss running at the office, checking the office and you watching from home.
3. zenoss collector running at the office reporting to zenoss machine at home,
and you - watching the zenoss at home.
1 will be very limit (as far as is know) and will check the office wan

you can monitor ip-service - like 25(mail) and such.

hi all
i tried to use one of netdata many great tips:
http://www.zenoss.com/Members/netdata/create-a-device-dependency/
it's not working on any other tests i did the following:
if device.id == 'my-1st-server':
dbsrv1 = device.findDevice('my-2nd-server')
if dbsrv1.pingStatus() 0:
you'll need to enable WMI monitoring for that.
create a local user and make it a local admin.
set the user/password in the zproperties under = zwinuser and winpassword
and try re-module the device.
that should solve it :)

dude, you didn't even read the manual...
zenoss can do what you wanted easily but it's Open-Source.
you'll need to chose:
1. working on it, and make it work.
2. pay zenoss support team to help you
(recommended for YOU with THAT question)
3. pay a 3rd party company to do it (NOT recommended
my best guess is that the firewall on the fedora is working :)
you can just turn it off
or you can allow 8080 tcp outside in the iptables:
iptables --append INPUT -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT
in the console as root.
you can do it from the gui too
post if i got it or not ;)
it's inside :)
check out (default):
/opt/zenoss/libexec/*
you can find them all and if you know how to use just start using.
if not, check out:

it's very straight forward configuration ;)
m2f
ohh dude... first test that the snmp-informant is working
try snmpwalking from the zenoss machine into one of the windows server.
plus, try re-moduling the server in the zenoss (in the device menu the drop
menu - manage - module device)
then check for errors (and post them)
thomas, i still don't get it...

it's sounds like you're not using the snmpd.conf for it? or i'm wrong?

just add the wmi template.

after it's on it just re-module the device...
