Re: [Zim-wiki] Delete Namespace
Dne 14.9.2015 v 13:04 Rolf Kleef napsal(a): first time: create Archive:Foo second time: create Archive:Foo:2015, perhaps move the first version to Archive:Foo:2014 Although it starts to feel like a versioning plugin... We're discussing here a nonstandard situation - how many times you recreate a re-archive a page? The versioning principle is a fallback. Usually you have Page A, Page B, Page A:Subpage A etc. There are no conflicts when moving them around, they have unique names. Archiving is moving. In case there's an existing page in target namespace you are prompted what to do. Archiving function will decide for you - it'll create a time namespace. Renaming the page would break up the links. My page is a client project. Subpages, folders, files (documents, images). When I close the project, I archive it. Later if there's another business with the same client, I create a page with the same [client] name. When archiving it, I don't want it to mix up with previous archived page with the same name. So the time name space is the solution. We don't change content, we create metadata. And I can see my work for the client in a chronological view. -- Vlastimil Ott www.e-ott.info www.opensourceblog.cz @vlastimilott ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki Post to : zim-wiki@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Zim-wiki] Delete Namespace
Dne 13.9.2015 v 09:47 Jaap Karssenberg napsal(a): Maybe in the search dialog towards the bottom there could be a button "show X more results from the archive". ) Definitely. I want to search through my archive and I'm doing it - that's very important (at least for me). Archived project are my knowledge base... Which of these options does most justice to the history in which these pages are archived ? I think it's super easy - it's wiki! So let's create some namespaces. The archive function in Thunderbird is super easy - just press 'a' and the message will be moved to Archive/2015 folder (automatically created). But there are by principle no duplicates which we could have in Zim. We have some 'Date' namespace (Calendar plugin). So let's have an 'Archive' namespace a let the user choose the way s/he wants to organize the items within - daily, monthly, weekly: Archive:2015:08:01:Foo parent:Foo child 1 Archive:2015:08:02:Foo parent:Foo child 1 It's a kind of versioning. I think you cannot just rename the page because there could be some other data (folder) as well. We want to archive the stuff but not to alter it. So let's move it to a structure. (If you decide to archive one page, then to create it again and then to archive it again - you'll have a namespace conflict. You'll have to wait one day ;-)) I'd like to see some automatic way to organize items in the archive (like Thunderbird does). I'll use it few times a month so I'll be happy with a month namespace Archive:2015:08:Foo What do you think? -- Vlastimil Ott www.e-ott.info www.opensourceblog.cz @vlastimilott ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki Post to : zim-wiki@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Zim-wiki] How to use Next: in tasks
Hi guys, I'm not able to find a howto for the next task function. The help says: The option Label for next task sets a label to start tags that depend on the previous task. The default is Next:, but you can also customize it. If a tasks depends on the previous task it will not be actionable until the previous task is marked as done. This is particularly useful if you want to breakdown a task in serial steps, but not put all steps in the task list at once. Tasks that are not yet actionable are grayed out in the list. [Zim-wiki] Box - figure description language
Hi guys, I recently found a very interesting programming language. It'd be cool to have it in Zim. :-) FYI Box(er) is made by two equally important components: * *a programming language, Box*, designed with vector graphics in mind, * *a graphical user interface, Boxer*, which allows you to edit the Box program and - at the same time - see the figure, zoom in and out, interact with it, browse the documentation interactively. The aim of the project is hence to maintain the ease-of-use offered by mouse-driven graphical editors, adding - on top of it - the customizability which only a powerful dedicated programming language can provide. http://boxc.sourceforge.net -vo ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki Post to : zim-wiki@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you - that didn't occur to me. -- Vlastimil Ott www.e-ott.info ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki Post to : zim-wiki@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~zim-wiki More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Zim-wiki] Document folder and document root - difference
Hello Jaap and others, I've updated the Czech translation, it's now up-to-date, I hope. Approximately one year ago, I've translated the help, but never sent to Jaap. :-( I make a revision now and I'll finish it - there's no much work. My question is - what's the difference between doc folder and doc root? I cannot fully understand ths section in help:getting started: If you want to include the image files in the notebook try the menu item Tools - Document Folder. This will open a folder in the notebook directory that corresponds to the current page. You can also use a document root for this, see properties for that. The menu item is now Tools - Open document folder or Open document root. Is the folder the right place for keeping the images included in the page? Should the user copy the images here before inserting them in the page? Thank you for clarification. I'm using 0.26.
