I agree, perhaps a dialogue or config file entry could let the user select which file extensions will be recognized as pages even if for the moment there is no distinction made between how they are handled. Jaap, Just having *.md files displayed as text would be helpful already (the markdown codes cause a minimum disturbance for the reading or perhaps I'm so used to seeing them), and should be pretty easy to implement. Obviously having zim interpreting markdown codes and formating the text will be much better, but I understand this is not trivial and will take time. But there is no reason to postpone the good for the best.
