I with John, I don't always drive the speed limit either.

I don't speed on purpose. I know I shouldn't speed but I do.

OK, shame on me.

You should. It is the law of the land and provides for better safety for
all drivers on the public highway. You need to stop speeding, now. If I
was the prophet I would include the following question on the temple
recommend:
Do you obey traffic laws?

Re: [ZION] Concealed Carry

2003-09-11 Thread Jon Spencer
How would that change my mind? It was the speeding that killed them, it was
the RECKLESS part that did it.

For my part, I do WRECKLESS speeding (1.7 millions miles and counting, as
well as knocking on my head - wood, you know).

I drive for the conditions. I practice defensive driving. I don't get
tickets. I respect life. I only drive as fast as is safe, regardless of
the limit. I often drive below the speed limit in residential areas, which
irritates those who don't respect life.

You may use a litmus test to judge people. I think that sometimes that can
work, but other times it will not.

The implications are that people from the far East are better?

Most contemporary western women have no regard for the correct

Perhaps we could conduct a survey of views on importance of following
President Benson's counsel about mothers not working outside the home.
Or perhaps we could find some statistics regarding women married in the
temple and their current rate of divorce. Would these be good measures?

This is outdated counsel and no longer meets with the necessary needs and
requirements of many saints in a changing world that places new demands
on families. I see President Hinckley has been slowly superseding this
counsel at a rate that is not too far behind the trend. Many working men
can no longer provide professional wages for their families sustenance
although they perform honorable tasks that must be performed by someone
in our working society. Even the working jobs that once paid very well
are hardly enough to take care of a family let alone make the insurance
premiums for two cars in which the Church requires every family to have
in order to do your duty!

Working woman is the wave that is upon us and the Church will have to
deal with it as it is now doing. The Church has no choice but to make
friendly allowance for working woman or enter into the United Order.

Paradox is upon us!

Just think about how many accidents would be avoided if people didn't
speed. Do you speed? If you do; stop it now! Speeding on the highway is
SIN; period. You cannot justify it through carnal means. Try as you may,
you can't. Obey all traffic laws as you are told to by the voice of
prophets! Let's just see how many of you Zionites will follow the
prophets this upcoming General Conference.

You would very well have a change of attitude if someone killed your wife
and family on the state highway because they were speeding along without
regard to the law or public safety. There is no excuse for reckeless
speeding and disregard for the law. Those who do so aren't worthy of a
