You don't mention in your post, but if this is a Solaris 8 or 9 branded zone,
this is a bug in df.
Fixed by Solaris 8 patch 137749-01 which fixes bugID 6653043
I just hit this issue myself building Solaris 8 zones to run legacy Oracle
databases. Patch fixes it fine.

No this is a solaris 10 zone only .. not a branded zone. But the issue is same
my dba cannot get the df -h . o/p to check how much space they are left with
:-( and i 'm looking for a way so that dba or zone administrator can check df
-h . ,storage lofs file systems (imported from local zone )
This is two ways. I've use
method 1 a lot (because you had to). Method 2 "should work"
