Re: [Zope-Coders] Checkin messages

2005-07-22 Thread Tim Peters
[Florent Guillaume]
If someone does a checkin but is not subscribed with the correct mail
to the zope-checkins list, the checkin doesn't appear there.

 This sucks.
A number of checkins have gone under the radar in the last few months.

Could the checkin lists be changed to allow non-member posts?
Or, if that's too much filtering work because of spam, could the
generated checkin message come from a fixed [EMAIL PROTECTED] email
that would be subscribed to the list (but receive no mail)?

The zodb-checkins list is set to hold postings (for moderator review)
from non-members. I run that list, and approve/discard held postings
as appropriate. A steady trickle of spam gets sent to that list, so I
wouldn't advise allowing non-member posting without moderator review.
The policy on zodb-checkins works fine (no spam gets thru, no legit
checkin messages get lost).

In contrast, the zope-checkins list admin is still listed as Ken
Mannheimer, and I doubt he pays attention to that duty anymore.
Someone else should volunteer to take it over.

Note that we did lose a few days' worth of checkin messages on _all_
zope.org checkin lists a few weeks ago, due to a mistake. There's no
good reason I know of for losing any messages after that, though.

Just the usual reminder from the release management :-) Zope 2.8.1 b1
 will be released next Wednesday

[Tim Peters]
 Is this correct? Please confirm.

 http://www.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/Zope2.8/MilestonePlan

 still says

 2.8.1 b1: 2005/7/27
 2.8.1 final: 2005/08/10

[Andreas]
Argh...you're right again...I wonder why my Ical has all release dates one
week earlier. I was not my goal to annoy or anger you :-)

Good thing, too, since you accomplished neither -- I was simply in a
state of panic. I'm much calmer now -- thanks wink.

and 2.8.1 final two weeks later.

Which would be 8/3, again a week earlier than the published 8/10.

Please commit any pending fixes for 2.8.1 before the beta 1 release
and not between beta and final release.

This gets difficult for me (read ZODB) if I've got only 2 days now
instead of the 9 I planned on.

Re: [Zope-Coders] 2.8 zeo failure on Windows

2005-05-19 Thread Tim Peters
[Mark Hammond]
I've just discovered that my recent signal handler patches to ZEO no
 longer work for 2.8.

The patch is quite simple, and is attached to
http://www.zope.org/Collectors/Zope/1788. However, as this is from a
tag in the ZODB project I have no idea how to go about doing this (with
 any confidence anyway!)

Would someone be able to get this in?

I'll be preparing a ZODB 3.4b1 release today, and will incorporate
this. Thanks!

FYI, development never occurs on a tag -- a tag is frozen forever. I
need to work on the ZODB 3.4 branch, merge to the ZODB trunk, cut a
new tag from the former, and then redirect the Zope trunks to the new
tag. This isn't something you want to try on your second day wink.
