b) configuration directives that you use in your Python code
c) a configuration mechanism that, instead of parsing a configuration

I recently spent about an hour struggling with an Interface schema used
to construct the usual add and edit forms.
1) On a Text or SourceText field (and presumably others, but I haven't
checked), if you set both a 'default' and a 'missing_value' (that are
identical), the add form does not

I think the ZConfig argument was largely due to misunderstandings. I
would be surprised if people really cared whether to Zope used
ConfigParser or ZConfig (except Fred, perhaps ;))

Unpleasant things happen when views are security wrapped. Widgets
refuse to work, because they are registered as views, and get a custom
secuity checker (in zope.app.component.metaconfigure.view). The
default view custom checker only protects '__call__', leaves all other
attributes
