Confera is pretty old I would try ZDiscussions, ZUBB or Squishdot.

Try the Squishdot 0.4.1 a select 'plain'. You should get the same
(better ;-) functionality and if that doesn't work, I'll fix it ;-)

cheers,

Chris

Has any one had this problem? I don't really have time to go hunting
for the problem at the moment.

I am running a Zope 2.1.6 from src on RH linux 6.2.

I am trying to use Confera for the first time and am having a problem:

1) When I reply to a message, I get the error:
Error Type: AttributeError

I have the topic installed in a PTK folder and have checked the option to
notify me of new replies on the original message.

Anyone had this problem?

Re: [Zope] Confera and strict permissions

2000-06-06 Thread P Chandra Sekhar

Hi Mr. Cary...

I too tried with Confera and ZDiscussion on NT platform, but I've got the
problem other way round. It is permitting only super user, it is not
permitting anybody else even though I gave permissions to Manager and Owner.

Any how I've tried with another one called Squishdot. It is working fine.

Try, I hope it will work,

Regards,
Chandra Sekhar

[Zope] Confera and strict permissions

2000-06-06 Thread Cary O'Brien

I'm trying to set up a small site with a Confera topic (using Zope
2.1.6). It is going to be accessed by some off-site co-workers
through the internet, so I am concerned about security. Access is
through Apache on the firewall with some mod_rewrite address filters,
but I'm kind of a belt-and-braces guy when it comes to security, so I
only want people who have user entries and passwords to access the
discussion. No anonymous access at all.

But, if I remove the default "Anonymous" access privileges granted in
the root folder, even users with user entries who can access other
documents get access denied when trying to view the Confera topic.

This happens for both remote and local access.

The error traceback seems to point to a problem with the tree tag
rendering components.

Any ideas?

Re: [Zope] confera, zope 2.2, and attachments

2000-05-31 Thread Vitaly Osipov

I guess you are using ZDconfera, not original Confera - I had the same
problems until I looked into the code. Seems like it was partly taken from
Confera, but Confera uses FileObject.py to handle attachments - this module
is not present in ZDconfera, which instead tries to use ImageFile, but not
very successfully You could copy that fileobject from Confera distribution,
add a line like

from FileObject import *

at the beginning of ZDConfera.py,
change

try:file=ImageFile(file)
except: file=''

to
try:file=FileObject(file)
except: file=''

inside addMessage in ZDConfera.py
and maybe also change line

icon='misc_/Confera/attachment.gif'

to

icon='misc_/ZDConfera/attachment.gif'

at FileObject.py
And this problem does not raise any errors because adding file is inside
try/except clause in ZDConfera.py.

regards,
Vitaly.

Re: [Zope] confera, zope 2.2, and attachments

2000-05-31 Thread Cary O'Brien

(Vitaly ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) helped me with this. The problems was
that it wasn't possible to add an attachment to a ZDConfera message)

Note this is with Zope 2.1.6.

Thanks for the information on fixing attachments in ZDConfera. Note that
the latest version of ZDiscussios (0.2.0) does use FileObject() in
ZDConfera.py, but it doesn't import FileObject, and the icon is wrong.
The error is masked by the try block.

So the fix I used was...

0) Get ZDiscussions
1) Get Confera
2) Cope FileObject.py to lib/python/Products/ZDConfera
3) Edit ZDConfera.py
1. at the beginning add "from FileObject import FileObject"
2. change "icon='misc_/Confera/attachment.gif' to
  "icon='misc_/ZDConfera/attachment.gif'
4) Restart

Thanks again,

-- cary

[Zope] confera, zope 2.2, and attachments

2000-05-30 Thread Cary O'Brien

With a confera discussion, I can't seem to add attachments.
I can enter a file name into the file upload box, and there
are no errors, but when I view the message there is no
attachment.

Am I doing something wrong?
