There are occasions when a random sample of a query's rows are
needed. This tip explains a few possible methods to do this, then
gives an example that works with SQL Server 2000: create a view, then
create a user-defined function that selects from the view and
finally, reference the UDF in the query.

FOLD_STR FUNCTION TO BREAK SQL AT GIVEN LENGTHS | Dilbagh Singh

This Oracle script is designed to create a function that breaks/folds
a SQL string into multiple lines of a given length without any syntax
errors. Lines are broken at a location that provides a syntatically
correct SQL statement for direct cutting/pasting. The function has
been tested on Oracle 8.1.7.3 Enterprise Edition.
