LEAD STORY:
"Domino users in California prepare for energy shortage"
Lotus Notes/Domino users tell their tales of adapting to the
California energy crisis. For example, Golden State Foods, which uses
e-mail to order meat, baked goods, sauces, and produce, which it then
supplies to McDonald's, sought out other power supplies. Other
California users say Domino is so resilient that even unprotected
servers come through black outs without any major worries.

[1] "SharePoint readies data for enterprise use"
This product review of Microsoft's Portal Server 2001 concludes that
the corporate portal server melds searching, document management and
collaboration in a customizable interface. "SharePoint also
represents a better value than more expensive products such as the
Lotus Discovery Server, which lacks document management
functionality, a major feature of Microsoft's product," the review
says.

[2] "IBM to buy Informix database software"
IBM is buying Informix's database software business for $1 billion.
The move may bloster IBM in its battle with Oracle over software that
manages massive corporate business operations. Informix gives IBM one
of the leading database systems used in data warehousing, business
intelligence and transaction-handling systems used by more than
100,000 customers.

"Coder by day, love machine by night"
"Coder by day, love machine by night"
A few decades ago, Helen Gurley Brown's book "Sex and the Single
Girl"
enlightened the public about the love life of single females. A new
"unscientific" poll from IT job site JustTechJobs.com may do the same
for IT workers. According to the poll, adult male high tech workers
have sex 37% more often than men in other careers. More than 7,500
men who work in information systems responded to a marketing poll
question about sex habits. The results indicate they have sex 108
times a year, about 37% more often than respondents in a similar
survey done by Men's Health magazine. So, if you're looking for a
more active love life, get an IT job.
