The WebSphere Application Server Version 4 and the WebSphere Voice Server Version 1.5, to go on sale next month, are part of IBM 's year-old WebSphere initiative, a set of Java-based tools that allow customers to create and manage Web sites and build Web-based software and services. It should be ignored, said security analysts. Doing what the hoax message suggests, deleting a file within the operating system, could damage the software. Beta 2 isn't feature complete, and more features will be included in subsequent betas. But that could be about to change. There are increasing vulnerabilities administrators and users should be aware of, such as Domino's newfound compatibility with the Microsoft Outlook client through iNotes Access for Outlook. It could invite sharks to tear into the platform. And there are other developments to worry about. Still, Hormel has decided not to buck popular culture and says it will no longer fight as aggressively to stamp out the derogatory use of the term spam. They only ask that when using the word to describe their luncheon meat, the word be capitalized so that the terms can be more easily distinguished. Perhaps a better differentiator is this: One you eat. The other you delete.
