GROOVE GETS BUSY WITH WINDOWS MESSENGER | News: Network World

Groove Networks has released a new version of its collaboration
software designed to run well with products from new partner
Microsoft. In addition to being made to run on the Windows XP

instant messaging chats with Windows Messenger users.

SECURE E-MAIL GAINING | News: Interactive Week

The difficulty of implementing public key infrastructure (PKI)
technology is the major impediment to businesses undertaking
encrypted e-mail plans. New software that is now on the market,
however, tries to take out some of the complexity while maintaining
tight security controls.

SUN VS. MICROSOFT: THE DUEL | News: Interactive Week

Giga analyst Rob Enderle summed up the Web services battle between
Microsoft and Sun really well. He said that Microsoft may be a bigger
player, but Sun "is an engine company competing in a marketplace that

THE MISSING LINK | QUALCOMM'S ANTI-HIJACK SETUP

Chalk up this bit of innovation to 9/11. Qualcomm, the company that
makes black cell phones that go in your pocket, reportedly plans to
make black boxes that go in airliners. Only these black boxes will be
very different than the ones searchers hunt down after the fact.
Qualcomm's system will relay real-time, in-flight cockpit
conversations, flight data, and video of passengers to ground
control. If anything unusual were to happen up there, ground
controllers would be able to see and hear the red flags -- and
possibly have a chance to react. Qualcomm will enlist the satellite
technology of Globalstar to get the system off the ground.
