AOL FIXES SECURITY HOLE IN AIM | News: IDG
AOL has made changes to its internal servers that it says are enough
to fix the security hole reported earlier this week in its widely
used instant messaging tool. As a result, users do not have to
install any patches on their end to protect themselves from a
potential attack.

MICROSOFT MEMO TO STAFF: CLOBBER LINUX | News: USA Today
Microsoft is stepping up its assault on Linux, according to a British
technology Web site that says it got ahold of an internal memo sent
to the software giant's sales force. In the memo, a Microsoft
executive urges employees to "modify" traditional approaches and "dig
deeper" to find out where companies are using Linux.

CRM SPENDING TO FLATTEN | News: InternetWeek
Meridien Research isn't too bullish about the customer relationship
management (CRM) market. Its latest report predicts virtually no
growth in spending until 2004. The company also forecasts market
consolidation in the CRM space during 2002.

THE MISSING LINK | 1901 census site closed for urgent repairs

Newsflash! The descendants have descended in droves. The 1901 census
that the British government put online this week has taken more hits
than Mike Tyson. And like a wounded boxer, www.census.pro.gov.uk has
gone to the corner for a cold splash of water and a quick rubdown.
The site had to come offline for some emergency repairs thanks to the
one million plus people who tried to log on at the same time. Must be
something in their genes! The site should be back up and running by
Friday. Tally-ho!
