IBM OFFERS UPDATED WEBSPHERE COMMERCE | InfoWorld
IBM created a new version of its WebSphere Commerce product, designed
for mid-size and larger companies to more easily integrate the
product with enterprise resource planning, customer relationship
management and supply-chain management systems. Called the
CrossWorlds Extender for WebSphere Commerce, the software is supposed
to make it easier to track orders, manage inventories and ship goods.

NEW FOCUS ON COLLABORATION SOFTWARE | InformationWeek
IBM and Microsoft have developed products designed to make it easier
for businesses to collaborate over the Internet. IBM's news WebSphere
Business Integration middleware is aimed at specific industries and
lets users exchange information using the XML data-exchange format
and other standards. Microsoft released a stripped-down version of
its BizTalk Server 2002 application.

WEB SERVICES: READY, SET, WAIT | CNET
Don't expect Web services to jump start tech spending. Buyers are
waiting for additional standards and better compatibility before
spending much on the technology. Other roadblocks to widespread
acceptance include a lack of security standards and products, poor
understanding of the benefits among top executives and a lack of
internal development skills. But software makers are forging ahead
with products.

MORPHEUS MESSENGER READY TO TAKE AIM | IDG News
PalTalk hopes its alliance with StreamCast Networks', which came out
with a new instant messaging service, Morpheus Messenger, will launch
its software into the big leagues. PalTalk says it expects some 1.75
million users to download the new version of Morpheus each week,
giving them access to PalTalk's IM service.

THE MISSING LINK | Fast engine -- bigger than Google?

Enter "more than Google" into the Google search box and AlltheWeb may
be the one match. That's because Google may have met its match. This
little search engine that could says it chugs through 2.1 billion
pages, whereas Google searches 2.07 billion. Fast Search & Transfer
runs AlltheWeb, which has a large cult following among researchers
who need particularly elusive or esoteric results. AlltheWeb doesn't
quite have AlltheGlory just yet. Google is still the busiest search
engine going, and it may be the most genteel and decorous to boot.
The company's refreshingly modest and sporting rejoinder to the
AlltheWeb announcement was that it hopes its competitor's achievement
"raises the awareness of search's importance in our everyday lives."
