Headlines

Expect more Domino-Workplace tie-ins, for a price
[eWEEK]
When Version 7 of the Notes client and Domino server debut in 2005, enhanced "surface-level" integration will tie the products with IBM's next-generation Workplace collaboration platform, but unresolved licensing issues for Notes and Domino customers could mean paying more for Workplace functionality.

AD SALES PROPOSAL AUTOMATION with Lotus Notes and MS Word
Usage scenario #4: "A sales team has been looking for a solution that would help them create more proposals in less time. They needed to reduce manual repetitive tasks, and consequently improve proposal consistency and accuracy. Although they have been using a CRM/SFA solution, the solution didn't provide any help in writing proposals..." Learn more and download the free trial today!

TIPS:  Tip: Create a doclink between two unrelated Notes docs
A SearchDomino.com reader recently submitted a question asking for help creating a DocLink between two unrelated documents in the same database. The person tried several frustrating attempts using the Formula language to solve the problem, but it only worked about 50% of the time, and was that far too unreliable for a production application. Expert Scott Lemieux has all too often had the same frustrating experience using Formula to solve problems like these, so he developed a solution for this scenario that uses LotusScript.

ADVICE:  Ask Michael Lazar: Remotely verify version of Domino run on a server
Dear Mike: Is there a way to remotely verify what version of Domino is being run on a server? We are having some issues with Sun JVM, and everything I have found states that Domino 6 should work fine. I have been told that our server was updated to 6.5, but I would like to verify that myself if at all possible.

The Missing Link

Conscience and the computer thief
[Reuters]
Here's a German thief who may qualify as one of those thousand points -- or in this case, pixels -- of light. After the computer cad from Koblenz stole a laptop, the salesman gave chase. But the salesman should have stretched first -- he tripped on the sidewalk and broke his arm. Hearing his pursuer wail in pain, the thief halted, apologized and handed back the laptop before he took off again.
