IBM: Domino, Notes are here to stay
[ITnews]
IBM is working overtime to reassure partners that its venerable enterprise messaging and collaboration platform will continue to evolve and grow for years to come. Despite Big Blue's best efforts, some have questioned IBM's plans for Notes and Domino now that it is also ramping up plans for Workplace, its next-generation collaboration platform.

Is business IM an investment black hole?
[InternetNews]
A one-time top engineer at Apple Computer has founded a startup looking to prove that there is money to be made in the enterprise IM market. Venture-funded Five Across is offering a free lightweight IM application that features tools for text chat, file-sharing, scheduling of meetings and presence management.

Telecommuting still has its share of problems
[IT Week]
Thanks in part to Lotus Notes, telecommuting seemed "ridiculously easy" for one columnist, but working away from the office still has its hardships, both for workers and the companies trying to support them.

ADVICE:  Ask Michael Lazar: Domino on AS/400 vs. Domino on Windows
Dear Mike: Currently we run Domino on AS/400 on its own partition -- it runs very well. There seems to be a push to move Domino to Windows-based Intel boxes for no other reason than just because management wants to. Is there a short answer as to why we would or would not do this?

DOWNLOADS:  Chapter Download: Program control statements
This chapter from the book C++: A Beginner's Guide, by Herbert Schildt, discusses the statements that control a program's flow of execution. There are three categories of program control statements: selection statements, which include the if and the switch; iteration statements, which include the for, while and do-while loops; and jump statements, which include break, continue, return and goto. Except for return, which is discussed later in this book, the remaining control statements, including the if and for statements, are examined here.

The Missing Link

Is 'Friends Reunited' a homewwwrecker?
[Reuters]
Web sites that reunite old flames may be fanning some flames all right -- flames of divorce. A counseling service in the U.K. claims that sites like Friends Reunited are working a little too well. Like moths getting too close to the flame, mates are getting too close to their old flames -- and more and more marriages are getting toasted as a result. Friends Reunited says it's no more a homewrecker than the telephone. They were not available for comment -- their telephone was busy.
