THE MISSING LINK | Mercedes demos drive-by info gathering

Imagine driving your C320 sedan down the highway, listening to your
favorite Ashford and Simpson CD, then BAM! -- you're broadsided by a
truckload of data. Mercedes is the driving force behind just such a
concept. The wireless option, called DriveBy InfoFueling, would give
drivers up-to-the-second traffic reports, maps, and songs they may
have heard, liked and wanted to store in their stereo. This
technology is still a ways down the road. Mercedes is demonstrating a
prototype this week at Comdex.
