USE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS | by Sharon Crawford

Editor's note: Probably like most people, I log on to my computer
with an account that has administrator privileges. That's so I can
change things as I need to on the Windows 2000 machine. It makes
managing the computer much easier. You may log on to your servers
with an administrator account and stay on for a while, again, because
it's so much easier.

But not so fast. This isn't a great idea, according to this tip,
excerpted from "Windows 2000 Pro, The Missing Manual,"
http://www.digitalguru.com/DigitalGuru/product_detail.asp?catalog_name=Books&category_name=&product_id=0596000103&partner_id=74,
published by New Riders. Managing Windows 2000, like everything else in life, is a
series of trade-offs, as this tip indicates.

WIN2K & ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATION | Live Expert Q&A

Who: Keith Millar and Doug Davis, Quest
When: Jan. 17, 2002 at 1:00 PM EST

Windows 2000 migration experts Keith Millar and Doug Davis will help
you explore Active Directory, the powerful and flexible backbone of
Windows 2000 infrastructure. It is a much different beast than
Windows NT 4.0, and really needs to be managed as such. AD
Administration is very complex; so is Group Policy Management. Data
integrity enforcement is not provided natively in AD. If you limit
yourself with management tools, you will not be able to realize the
real benefits of Windows 2000. Keith is Quest's director of product
management for Microsoft solutions. Doug is Quest's FastLane Migrator
product manager. Both have worked through a variety of migration
issues with numerous customers. Join them for an in-depth
conversation about Active Directory, the role it will play in your
move to Windows 2000, and some deployment barriers that need to be
overcome.

For a sampling of the great advice you'll get on Jan. 17, check out
Keith Millar's Active Directory migration tips in
searchWindowsManageability's Management Tools Discussion Forums at
