MICROSOFT PATCHES ANOTHER TELNET FLAW IN WIN 2000 | News: IDG News

Seven apparently isn't Microsoft's lucky number. The company has put
out a new patch for its Win2k Telnet code, which is sporting its
eighth flaw in less than a year. MS says a buffer-flow attack against
the Telnet code could cause a DoS problem. There's also a chance the
flaw could let an attacker run any code he/she wanted in Win2k or
Interix 2.2, a program that runs Unix apps in Win2k.

GOV'T GETS 30,000 MICROSOFT E-MAILS | The Missing Link

Uncle Sam may feel more like Uncle Spam thanks to the Microsoft
antitrust case. The U.S. government invited e-mails from the public
to opine on the case. And the people have spoken! Some 30,000
messages landed in the federal inbox. Unfortunately, the Department
of Justice says about 90% of those missives are pure junk destined
for deletion. Some people simply wrote "I hate Microsoft." How pithy!
Others sent in porn. How pathetic! Either of those, however, is
probably preferable to the 2,800 form letters that were sent. How
predictable!
