JAVA-BASED PASSPORT: CONTENDER OR PRETENDER? | News: ZDNet

Look what's coming up from Down Under -- a Java-based version of
Microsoft's Passport authentication engine. The Australian software
company BuyItOnline says its new JPassport is the world's first Java
interface to .NET MyServices. BuyItOnline says the product
"completely replicates" Passport in Java, although another software
company claims JPassport only implements the client request side of
Microsoft's product.

KLEZ.E WORM THREAT APPEARS TO BE CONTAINED | News: Computerworld

A lot of people ran into the Klez.e worm the day it "woke up"
(Wednesday), but the worm doesn't appear to have done much damage.
Symantec gave the worm a Level 3 (out of 5) risk factor, mainly
because so many people had seen it.

WIN32 API FOR WINDOWS 2000 ENCRYPTION FILE SYSTEM | Ask the Expert

Dear Ask the Expert,
My question is concerning the use of Win32 API for Windows 2000

CAN YOU SOLVE THIS IT RIDDLE? | Bill Boswell's Admin Corner Puzzle

Tim was out of the office yesterday because of a cold, and during
that time, a group of corporate auditors did a security check on his
system. Tim made sure that they didn't disable the Guest account on
his stand-alone print server (something that happened the last time
that the auditors visited). But today, users are getting all sorts of
errors.

Help Tim solve this problem and win a prize...

HE HACKS BY DAY, SQUATS BY NIGHT | The Missing Link

A teenage girl proved virus writing isn't just a man's domain. Adrian
Lamo proved the homeless can hack it in cyberspace too. Lamo is the
guy who got into "The New York Times'" intranet and accessed the
telephone and social security numbers of the rich and famous (Robert
Redford and Rush Limbaugh to name two of thousands). He's also gotten
into Excite@Home, WorldCom and Yahoo using little more than a public
computer and an Internet connection. Pretty impressive for a guy who
spends many of his nights in abandoned buildings or on friends'
couches. Lamo may be getting a permanent address soon -- in jail. The
paper may press charges.
