This Week's Show

"If the Business Software Alliance aka the "Software Police" get to your business, before your business addresses any non-compliance issues, it's a bad day." So says Bob Krueger, vice president of enforcement for the BSA -- the organization that is charged with policing corporations to make sure that they're not using illegal software or worse yet, in the business of pirating software -- making illegal, bootlegged copies expressly for the purpose of reselling them domestically and internationally.

Abusers should be forewarned: if there is good reason to suspect that a company is using un-licensed software -- the BSA and U.S. Marshals could show up at your door, unannounced to do an audit. If you can't prove you own the software, your firm could be liable to make restitution and pay fines of as much as $150,000 for each copy of illegal software found in use at your business! The BSA has a "zero tolerance" rule for offenders.

Win2000Talk will delve into this issue with BSA officials and industry experts and tell you what you can do to get legal and what you should do in the event your firm is the subject of an audit.

Also NetIQ Product Manager Kevin Connor will be joining Laura to answer your Win2000 technical questions. Remember if you have a question you want answered on Win2000Talk email us a [EMAIL PROTECTED].
