Klez-I spreads via its own e-mail engine with multiple subject lines and file names for the infected attachment. Also, Outlook users beware -- Klez-I can execute through the preview pane. http://www.searchsecurity.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid14_gci818032,00.html MORE ON THIS TOPIC: To read more about viruses and worms, see these Best Web Links: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/bestWebLinks/0,289521,sid1_tax55f,00.html For more general information about Windows security: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/bestWebLinks/0,289521,sid1_tax559,00.html _____________________________________________________________________ ********************************************************************* OTHER STORIES In addition to the headlines below, others are available on our news page. >> FULL STORIES: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/news =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= MICROSOFT DEFENDS BASELINE SECURITY ANALYZER TOOL | News: InfoWorld Microsoft said users of its Baseline Security Analyzer vulnerability scanner might be misinterpreting results generated by the tool. Complaints surfaced this week that the tool does not recognize new patches and identifies phantom flaws. Microsoft said the analyzer, based on a similar HFNetChk product, does not allow users to suppress security bulletins the way HFNetChk does. Also, if hotfixes do not come from Microsoft, the company said, the tool will issue a warning. http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/newsItem/0,289139,sid1_gci817996,00.html IE BACK BUTTON 'BAD FOR YOUR DATA' | News: vnunet A security expert in Sweden warns of a flaw in Internet Explorer that allows an attacker to run code of their choice when the back button is clicked. The flaw centers on the fact that IE allows URLs containing Java script to be filed into the browser's history list. Attackers spiking the link with malicious code can trigger it to activate when the back button is clicked. The expert said Microsoft was notified in November, and last month, and has not yet responded. He did offer a workaround: disable active scripting in the browser or stop using the back button. http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/newsItem/0,289139,sid1_gci817999,00.html MICROSOFT'S CRYSTAL BALL | News: CNET Over the next five years, desktop computing will further embrace digital media and will include a shift to software as a Web-delivered service, Microsoft predicts. With on of the world's more popular PC operating systems, Microsoft has a lot of influence with (and at stake in) the future of PCs. http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/newsItem/0,289139,sid1_gci818053,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ADDITIONAL SEARCHWIN2000 NEWS HEADLINES All headlines, including those below, are available on our news page >> FULL STORIES: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/news - Clariant gets remote control results with PC-Duo - Microsoft urges support for new IP - Microsoft's top cop battles software pirates _____________________________________________________________________ ************* SPONSORED BY: SystemTools Software Inc. *************** FREE 30-DAY TRIAL DOWNLOAD Migrated to Microsoft Windows 2000 and Active Directory? Our backup software has an Exchange agent that is dependent upon a non-MS service being run. The service sometimes hangs, or spontaneously stops, and our Exchange backup fails. The software vendor is no help, so we'd like to be able to automate the process by stopping and starting the service every night prior to the backup. >>CLICK to read Scott Schnoll's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid458172_tax285117,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= GATES BETS THE FARM ON .NET | Quick Hit of the Day Bill Gates and Microsoft are betting the company on .NET, said Microsoft evangelist Eric Rudder in the opening keynote at TechEd 2002. >>CLICK to read the full article... http://searchwindowsmanageability.techtarget.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid33_gci816303,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WIN A COMPAQ IPAQ DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER | Tip of the Month Contest Time is running out in our April Tip of the Month Contest. You know that sense that your little rug rats are far more Web savvy than you'll ever be. Well, a new study indicates that the long-held theory that kids make better Web surfers than adults may not be completely true. Among the encouraging findings for elder cyber-peeps is that kids get frustrated with badly designed Web sites just as quickly as their adult counterparts. See, it wasn't just your eyesight; there really are a lot of horribly illegible Web sites out there. Just ask your kids.
