Management platforms are like the vegetables on a dinner plate. They are entirely necessary but don't usually grab the limelight at any high-tech event. That won't be the case at the upcoming Microsoft Management Summit, where IT executives will presumably be dishing about the direction of Microsoft's management platforms, System Management Server "Topaz", the complimentary Microsoft Operations Manager and others.

Do you think Microsoft has done a good job presenting a clear management strategy? Do you think it's important for Microsoft to deliver software that can manage systems other than those made by Microsoft? I'm the new kid here. I've covered networks and system management before but only recently switched over to everything Microsoft. I'd like to know your opinion of Microsoft's potential as a competitor in the realm of management software. Send me an e-mail.
