A federal judge shot down Microsoft's most recent attempt to shut Lindows' site as well as Redmond's claim that the word "Windows" basically belongs to them. Microsoft thinks the name "Lindows" sounds too much like "windows" -- to the point of entering trademark violation territory. Earlier this week, if you went to United.com you could get a round-trip ticket for $5. Sounds like an unreal bargain -- actually it was a real snafu. United meant to knock five bucks off the price of a ticket purchased from its Web site. But the company that makes publishing airfares its business, the Airline Tariff Publishing Co., errantly posted the fare as $5. About 45 minutes later, the problem was fixed. United says it will honor the fare for those who bought it, "fare" and square.
