Another problem that I am facing is that if I enable SSL on OWA, it takes ages to load up. (I have created my own certificate, so I am not using a purchased one.) Any ideas? >>CLICK to read Scott Schnoll's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid458170_tax285117,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF GROUP POLICY | by Oliver Thierry Dear Expert, I work in the Online Banking Services division of a financial institution. We are using Active Directory in our DMZ and we are implementing our security policies through GPOs, in separated OUs. My question is: What kind of performance impact have you seen with applying Group Policy through five or more levels of containers down, with very light policies (i.e. user rights in one, file permissions in another, account policy at the domain, etc.)? We have not stress tested a new Windows 2000 implementation. Should we expect performance to take a hit with this kind of setup? >>CLICK to read Oliver Thierry's expert response... http://searchwindowsmanageability.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid33_cid454863_tax288093,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= USING XP PRO IN AN NT4 DOMAIN | by Jerry Honeycutt Dear Expert, Are there any problems connecting and using Windows XP Pro on an NT4 domain? >>CLICK to read Jerry Honeycutt's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid456556_tax285114,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= TRANSFERRING THE FSMO ROLE | by Paul Hinsberg Dear Expert, I have a "test" domain controller on which I first installed Active Directory. I have a better server, "server2," that I want to replace the role of the test domain controller (be the FSMO), so I can completely take the "test" domain controller out of the domain. I have already run dcpromo.exe on "server2" and joined the domain as a DC, but now I want to rid the domain of the "test" DC. I need to transfer the FSMO role from the "test" DC to "server2". Is the best way to do this to demote the "test" DC with DCPROMO or transfer the FSMO roles with MMC? I am receiving the error: "The transfer of the current operations master role cannot be performed for the following reason. The requested FSMO operation failed. The current FSMO holder could not be contacted." This happens when I try to transfer the FSMO operations manager with MMC. >>CLICK to read Paul Hinsberg's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid463208_tax285115,00.html _____________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT FEATURES AND LINKS: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= COUNTDOWN TO NEW MICROSOFT LICENSING | Win2000Talk Radio Microsoft's Licensing 6.0 Program launches on August 1, promising cost savings for some business but fee hikes for most.
