New Fretheme worm on the crawl (ZDNet)
The Fretheme worm, in circulation in the U.S. and Europe, is spreading via e-mail and a flaw in Internet Explorer. The worm has many variants and arrives with a subject line: "Re: Your password!" The attachment is Decrypt-password.exe. The worm doesn't carry a damaging payload. It tries to connect users to Web sites whose IP addresses are listed in an attempt to generate hits for the sites, rather than send anything to them...

Negotiate with Microsoft, users told (vnunet)
June is the unofficial "let's make a deal" month at Microsoft. The company's fiscal year ends on the last day of June, which means it is probably more willing to negotiate deals on software licenses now than it would be at the start of a fresh fiscal year. Giga analysts say you should be able to haggle and save a few percent on license costs -- which could mean big savings if you're a big company.
