LEAD STORY
Severe IE flaw undermines SSL security, expert says  (IDG News)
Bad, bad browser! According to some security experts, Internet Explorer brings out a flaw in the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) standard for protecting online transactions and e-commerce. The problem can trigger what's called a "man in the middle attack" with the user totally clueless as to what's going on. No word yet on a fix.

THE MISSING LINK
Phantom goatsucker on government payroll

If something's rotten in the state of Denmark, then something's odious in Argentina. It smells like goat and bull. The Argentine government has a 102-year-old male goatsucker on its payroll. A goatsucker is a mythical creature that's blamed for some bizarre animal attacks in Latin America; it's sort of like a unicorn with a behavioral disorder. The government goatsucker is sucking about $42 worth of unemployment benefits from the strapped system. Government officials blame a technical glitch. Sure, blame IT! This is the same government that has spent itself silly, sending the country into economic ruin. But at least it's a place where evil figments can catch a break.
