LEAD STORY
MS LinuxWorld booth attracts notice, not crowds  (SearchWin2000)
LinuxWorld attendees are both impressed and disgusted that Microsoft is making its presence known at this year's conference. Some are pleased that the software giant has recognized that the Linux operating system is a viable Windows competitor, but others feel Microsoft is there only to earn a quick buck.

NEWS
LinuxWorld: A calm debut for Microsoft (Computerworld)
So how did it go for Microsoft at LinuxWorld? The company had a booth set up there -- a booth you might expect to be covered in rotten tomatoes or eggs. Microsoft says most expo attendees came by the booth to see what the company was up to; only a few dropped by to read Redmond the riot act. One Microsoft official said the show seems to be stressing business computing over the open-source philosophy.

THE MISSING LINK
"Office Rage" -- Feel like punching a colleague?

If you work in the U.K. and with computers that always seem to be on the fritz, look out. A new survey shows that half of Britain's office workers have been tempted to coldcock a coworker. More details of the survey show that too much work, computer "issues" and bothersome colleagues can turn a cubicle into a crime scene -- and that women are more likely to snap than men. The survey sponsor said cutting the gossip, being open with managers and leaving coworkers alone makes for cooler heads -- and fists.
