If you still have your job, you undoubtedly not only count yourself lucky but also know someone who lost theirs. I'm familiar with the phenomenon. In September 2001, the economy ate my job. A full year later, TechTarget (the parent company of SearchWin2000.com) was kind enough to offer me another one. Since then, I have been learning the ropes, compiling the Daily News, posting things to the site and trying to get to know you, the site's members.
The job turnover through which I've been is not remarkable in this economy. I, like many other job seekers, dreaded the question, "How much would you like to make?" Let's face it, I couldn't be perfectly honest and say, "Four million a year, please. Oh, and throw in a company jet while you're at it." The truth is, when you are searching for your next promotion or new job, you are forced to consider how much you're worth. When you land that coveted interview, things like certs, length of time in the IT world, region of the country in which you live, gender and the size of the interviewing company really impact the money you'll make if you get hired.
SearchWin2000.com's new salary survey spells out all of the above. What's more, you can also create custom reports that define relevant criteria such as operating system experience, programming languages you "speak" and the important reasons you're looking for a job. Buzz on over and hit the survey. Find out what you're worth -- not in the economy of two years ago when you last looked for a job, $4 mill and a jet, but in the economy of today when things like health insurance and grocery money are your main concerns.

Security isn't the hard sell it used to be. But some ROI-happy bosses still need to have their arms gently twisted to pony up funds to protect their systems. Are you ready to be a salesperson for security's sake?
