MANAGE ERROR REPORTING | by James Michael Stewart

Microsoft has built into Windows 2000, XP and .NET a mechanism by
which problems with the OS and installed software are reported back
to Microsoft. This information is used to develop patches and
hotfixes to improve the functionality of these OSes. However,
depending on your environment, you may not want this mechanism to
operate outside of your control. Fortunately, there are several
controls within group policy to manage this feature.

CAN I GET AWAY WITH NOT ENABLING AD? | Ask Laura Hunter

Dear Laura:
I am about to set up a network with Windows 2000 Server as the
operating system. I want to set the server as a PDC (primary domain
controller), but I do not want to enable Active Directory. This
server must also be a DNS server and a DHCP server.

REMOVING THE "EVERYONE" GROUP IN ACTIVE DIRECTORY | by Alan Warren

Removing the "everyone" group NTFS permissions from the root of a
drive is a standard security policy. When you try this with an Active
Directory domain controller, however, it may lead to a system that
cannot be rebooted. Read this Hall of Fame Tip to learn how to work
around this problem.

BUILDING & MANAGING MULTIPLE-FOREST AD ROLLOUTS | Webcast

In this entertaining yet informative on-demand webcast, author Howard
Marks recognizes that it's not always desirable to achieve directory
needs in one forest. Marks explores the issues of how many forests an
organization needs, managing cross-forest access and synchronizing
e-mail addresses. Marks also discusses multiple forest participation
criteria, including security considerations and clear forest
ownership.
