ASK ED TITTEL
Memorizing certification test questions
Dear Ed:
A SearchWin2000.com article talks about making certification harder with real life scenarios to get rid of memorizers. Well don't you have to "memorize" the stuff for the real life scenarios? I do not think I ever had an issue come up at work where I did not have reference materials and tools to help answer it. So, doing some lab work will test what a person can do. Otherwise, it is still just a test of memorization skills.

MANAGEMENT TOOLS DISCUSSION THREAD
Last Accessed file attribute
"JohnKyle" writes:
I'm trying to clean up old data to free space. I thought I could use the Last Accessed file attribute and search on that to identify files that haven't been accessed for a year. BUT...it seems to me that even examining the file properties immediately sets the Last Accessed date to today. Right click on any file, even if you know it hasn't been accessed since DOS days, and the Last Accessed Date is always today. Searching on the Last Accessed Date seems to set it, too, which makes the Last Accessed Date totally useless. Can anyone explain how this should be used or offer an alternative?
