Exchange Server 2003 -- it's now the product formerly known as Titanium. Nice and to the point, isn't it? One thing it may have before it ships? More spam killers.

Microsoft tweaking a new tongue? (eWEEK)
Microsoft is reportedly working on a new XML-based language that's designed to handle data and not objects. Company insiders call it X#, which is a .NET language based on C#.

Sun v. Microsoft sets legal precedent (The Associated Press)
So what happens if Microsoft does, in fact, lose its appeal and must put Sun Java in Windows? Life won't change much -- the greatest impact of the decision could be the precedent-setting nature of the case. A judge -- not engineers, software companies or users -- determined what is installed on personal computers, and that "first" may ultimately change the industry.

ASK JAMES MICHAEL STEWART
Restoring failed servers
Dear Michael:
I purchased new servers (most likely not identical, hardware-wise, as the old ones) and the same type of tape drive so I can read my backup tapes. I install Windows 2000 on the new server with just the default settings with the same machine name, and then restore the system drive and system state to the new disk. Everything seems to be there and somewhat working, but not clean.
Is there a way to change the DNS to primary (file replication services)?

VPN headaches

I have a VPN setup on five Windows XP laptops. When dialed in to the NT 4.0 server we can get to e-mail from the Exchange server but not to the server files. What's the deal? Can someone help?

How 'bout them Apples! Jobs' autograph up for bid
![]()
Whose autograph is more valuable, the "father of our country" or the co-father of our Apples? Seems like a no-brainer, but evidently more of us need to get our brains checked. The signature of Steve Jobs has been up for sale on e-Bay and is fetching bids of more than $800. By comparison, George Washington's John Hancock usually goes for $500 to $1,000. Of course, the premier president didn't ink his name on the premier issue of Macworld magazine. Jobs did, and that fact has probably pushed up the bidding for his handiwork. Autograph hounds on a budget might want to check out Bill Gates. A signed copy of his book "The Road Ahead" is going for about $25.
