LEAD STORY
Microsoft releases SP1 for MOM, tweaks software  (SearchWindowsManageability.com)
Microsoft is being good to its MOM -- the company has released the first service pack for the server management software along with more than two dozen other tweaks. The company says what you get in SP1 is critical, but some people outside of Redmond think MOM needs more work -- the kind of work a service pack can't do.

THE MISSING LINK
$10 million in Intel chips down, out and gone

A whole lot of Intel Pentium III processors are crying for their motherboards right now. Thieves stole a vanload of the chips over the weekend near Heathrow Airport in England after the driver left the vehicle unattended -- maybe to process some fish and chips. Police found the vehicle a short time later, relieved of $10 million worth of its Intel cargo. It's kind of like the legendary Great Train Robbery with a geeky twist! Several Sherlocks are working the great chip caper. They're questioning the driver, who undoubtedly has a chip on his shoulder, if not under his shirt.
