The city's 13,000 workers will be using it, and eventually, so will up to 3 million Houstonians. Chicago is also looking at SimDesk.

The high priest of hack is back. Make that the former high priest. Kevin Mitnick, after nearly eight years of court-ordered exile from the Internet, has re-entered cyberspace. Mitnick, whose computer crimes against Sun and Motorola got him in hot water in 1995, has already visited his girlfriend's Web site and sent Sen. Joe Lieberman an e-plea for a pardon in case the Connecticut lawmaker makes good on his bid for the White House. Mitnick also claims there's no going back to his hack attacks and says he wants to be a straight-surfing security consultant.
