Windows XP flaw could make passwords useless (ITworld)
Microsoft hasn't confirmed it yet, but there's word of a flaw with Windows XP that could let someone use a Windows 2000 CD and its recovery feature to assume the identity of an XP administrator. Passwords, therefore, would be a lame line of defense.

Security firm offers harder, meaner Windows (eWEEK)
A new security firm wants to do your Windows. BBX Technologies Inc. is offering a software product called ImmuneEngine, which keeps an eye on Windows system kernels, red flags any executables it doesn't recognize and either quarantines them or shuts them down if they are running. The company boasts that the other "leading brands" just detect -- but BBX stops.
