INVALIDATE LANMAN | by Tom Lancaster

One of the easiest holes to exploit in Windows security is the
LANManager. LANManager is an incredibly weak security system that was
used eons ago, back in the Windows for Workgroups (Windows 3.1) days.
And of course, in the interests of backwards compatibility, it has
lived on and on through each subsequent version of Windows. This tip
contains two ways to prevent LANManager from coming back to haunt
you.

WIRELESS HANDHELDS NEED DEFENSE-IN-DEPTH | by Robert L. Scheier

Personal digital assistants and other handheld devices were serious
enough security risks when users merely synched them with their
desktop computers for e-mails, schedules and contact lists. Wireless

to use the handheld's connectivity features to connect back into
sensitive corporate systems.

CENTRALLY TRACKING USER LOGON ATTEMPTS | by Mark Bagley

You can centrally track domain user logon attempts by using the audit
setting "audit account logon events." This setting generates a
security event log entry whenever the computer on which the setting
is active authenticates a user who is logging onto a different
computer. By setting this on at a domain controller, any user logon
attempts that are serviced by the domain controller will be recorded
in the domain controller security event log.
