Office 2003 will be different things to different customers, Microsoft said. A half dozen Office System bundles will be available, including a new version for SMBs and another to be installed on new PCs. Also, InfoPath, the program for generating form-like documents, will only be available for volume licensing customers. Office System should be out this summer.

MS discounts SBS software contracts (CRN)
Microsoft is doing some wheeling and dealing, selling a $99 Software Assurance deal for customers who upgrade to the current version of Small Business Server 2000 through the end of September. The usual price is $645. SBS 2000 evidently could use a helping "handout" -- SBS 2000 buyers are getting an 85% discount on rights to upgrade to SBS 2003, which is due in the fall.

Sweden surfs to top of Net rankings

They make awesome little pancakes, magnificent meatballs and let's face it: who wouldn't want a Saab? But the Swedes do something else better than anyone else -- surf. A new study conducted by IBM Corp. and British magazine The Economist found that Sweden is the most Internet-savvy country on earth, beating the U.S. mice down. Denmark is the second most wired nation, followed by the U.S. The rankings were determined based on the availability of affordable Internet connections, software and technical support, and the number of people who think it's cool to click.
