SET PROCESSOR AFFINITY FOR A DEVICE DRIVER | by Serdar Yegulalp

Windows 2000 administrators with multiprocessor systems are probably
familiar with the procedure for setting a particular application to
work with a specific processor. This is known as assigning processor
affinity for an application, and in certain circumstances it can be
extremely useful. If you have a dual-processor system with Web server
software and database software, you can assign each one to a specific
processor so they don't step on each other's toes, so to speak. But
it's also possible to assign hardware drivers to a specific
processor.

TROUBLESHOOT XP WIRELESS CONNECTIONS | by Barrie Sosinsky

If you start upgrading users to Windows XP, you may find that their
wireless cards no longer work. If this happens, check to see the
status of your network connection in the network connections dialog.
If the icon for that connection is dimmed, you might have a
configuration problem in software, or you might need to reinstall
your hardware.

TROUBLESHOOTING WITH THE ARP COMMAND | by Craig Hunt

How can you find out where your network problems originate? The ARP
command is used to analyze problems with IP to Ethernet address
translations, and has three useful options for troubleshooting.

UPGRADES VS. GHOSTING FOR XP MIGRATION | Ask Jerry Honeycutt

Dear Jerry:
I'm attempting to standardize and refine some of our personal
computer practices. Our PC tech team uses Symantec Ghost images when
configuring new PCs with Windows XP Pro prior to deployment. The time
required for an in-place OS and application upgrade is substantial
when compared to the use of a drive image. I'm trying to make a
formal case against doing in-place upgrades to Windows XP Pro and my
CIO has requested documentation to substantiate my claims. Any
suggestions for finding just such documentation?
