MS planning add-ons to Windows Server 2003 (eWEEK)
Microsoft is looking beyond Windows Server 2003 and wondering how to go about pricing and delivering add-ons for the product. One of the methods for delivering those add-ons is the "out-of-band" approach, where new technologies and tools come between major server releases. Among the out-of-band upgrades expected this year: Network Attached Storage 3.0, Small Business Server 2003, Windows Virtual Server and Windows Server 2003 for Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s processors.

Kazaa crowned Net's most popular program

If the Internet had its own "American Idol" contest, Kazaa would be Ruben Studdard. Reuters reports that the peer-to-peer file-sharing software is now the most popular free program on the Net. Last Friday, Kazaa dished out about 230 million downloads -- good enough to beat out ICQ instant messaging, which would be the equivalent of Clay Aiken ("Idol's" runner-up). An average of 366,000 freeloaders have been downloading Kazaa daily, according to those with the lowdown on such things -- Download.com.
