OPEN THE TCP RECEIVE WINDOW | by Serdar Yegulalp

In TCP/IP's settings, the TCP receive window size parameter governs
how much data a system can receive without sending back an
acknowledgment (ACK) packet. The larger the window, the more data can
be sent in one burst, and the faster the overall data rate. A window
size of 4 KB would mean the system could receive up to 4 KB of data
without having to send back an ACK packet. The faster the link, the
bigger the window can be without adverse effects (dropped packets,
lost data, etc.).

SAVING AND MOVING SERVER SHARES TO NEW SERVERS | by Richard Jenkins

To save all server shares to a text file, type NET SHARE >
mytext.txt. This exports all share names to a text file that can be
saved to document your server shares. You can also edit the file into
a command file that will create shares on a new server -- and we just
happen to have the process explained right here!

RANDOM LOCKOUTS AFTER A PASSWORD CHANGE | by Wim Geerinck

A user's Terminal Server session that is not disconnected can cause
login and password issues. When a user changes his password for any
reason -- i.e., forgotten password, expired password, etc. -- the
user will sometimes appear to be locked at random intervals in the
Active Directory. Nip this in the bud. Read the tip.

Dear Jerry:
How do I give my users with power user rights the ability to install

NEW DIRECTION FOR AD IN WINDOWS SERVER 2003 | Exclusive Article

Windows Server 2003 adds some new functionality for dealing with
forests and forest trusts in Active Directory. The improvements
provide a great deal more flexibility and resource utilization among
different forests, but they still preserve your ability to restrict
usage among forests. This article, the first installment in a
two-part series, discusses how Microsoft tracks trusts using trusted
