Admins contend with new skills, certs for Windows Server 2003 (SearchWin2000.com)
For most admins, the release of the new Windows Server 2003 means contending with a new skill set and a new slate of exams. But admins making the leap from NT 4.0 will have an even bigger challenge, according to Lutz Ziob, Microsoft's general manager of training and certification.

Dallas debuts: Exchange Server Release 1, security cert (CRN)
Microsoft is hoping to get a pair of products ready for next week's TechEd conference in Dallas. In addition to Exchange Server Release 1, which should be announced Monday, MS is also readying the beta version of its Jupiter e-business integration suite. A new security certification for IT administrators and engineers is slated to be announced Tuesday.

Maybe all those hours of Frogger and Kaboom! were good for something after all. A new study suggests that young adults who play action-packed video games have sharper visual skills than those who don't. Specifically, gamers appear better able to keep up with objects that appear at the same time on a screen and can better process rapid-fire changes in visual information. Researchers also think video games may be helpful to people who are visually impaired. The study did not look at the effects violent games might have on the attitudes of youngsters.
