So there should be some means by which you can have a private Active Directory network space that is, nevertheless, tied to tied to publicly accessible Internet servers while maintaining DNS and Active Directory security and segregation. Indeed, there is, and it's called split-brain DNS. >>Click here for the full tip: http://www.searchWin2000.com/tip/1,289483,sid1_gci912486,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= OVERRIDE ACTIVE DIRECTORY POLICIES | by Rick Bankers This user-submitted tip explains how you can temporarily turn off AD policies rather than log out and back in again as an administrator when making changes to a user's PC. We have been looking on the Internet at different sites trying to find information, but we continue to get nowhere. >>Click here for Hinsberg's expert response: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid537797_tax285115,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= CAN ACCESS TO THE AD 'USER OBJECT' BE BLOCKED? | Ask Roberta Bragg Dear Roberta: I have a Windows 2000 domain with 40 clients. Some users create the folders on their local system and give rights to the domain users, which I don't want. Is it possible to block a user/group access to the "user object" of Active Directory so that domain users will not appear in the list when they are assigning rights to a folder? >>Click here for Bragg's expert response: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid538392_tax285120,00.html Want more tips like these last two? I entered e-mail addresses for some of my users in the properties pages for each user in AD. However, I cannot get a reply from LDAP. I tried entering both the server's name and IP address in the LDAP account settings and also selected the box to log on to the LDAP server, but all I ever get is the Check Names box stating that "Microsoft Outlook does not recognize the name." What else do I need to do to have Outlook check AD for e-mail resolution? >>Click here if you can help "Gr8G8r": http://searchwin2000.discussions.techtarget.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@.ee83d68/1744!viewtype=convDate&skip=&expand= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 'DOH!
